Non-Alcoholic Christmas Drinks You and Your Guests Can Enjoy

Christmas drinks – we are so accustomed to alcohol being part of the celebration that the idea of an alcohol free holiday can be daunting. What do people who don’t drink alcohol do? Are there alcohol free alternatives that are just as good? Are you going to miss the booze? To answer those questions – well they still drink beverages – just non-alcoholic ones! Most alcohol free alternatives are even better. And no – you won’t miss the booze after making your way through these non-alcoholic Christmas drinks! All these drinks pack flavor without the booze!

NON-ALCOHOLIC CHRISTMAS DRINKS

Our goal with this list was to bring you drinks you can easily make at home. These beverages all use ingredients that should be easy to source. Hope you enjoy these non-alcoholic Christmas drinks as much as we did!


Peach Bellini

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces peach nectar or peach juice
  • 2 ounces sparkling cider or ginger ale (you can add more to fill the glass; chilled)
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • Optional garnish: peach slice, granulated sugar

Steps to Make It

  1. If garnishing with sugar, wet rim and press into granulated sugar.
  2. Pour the peach nectar into a Champagne flute or wine glass
  3. Slowly add the sparkling cider.
  4. Add 1 teaspoon lime juice and carefully swirl.
  5. Garnish with a peach slice, if desired.

Coquito

Ingredients

  • 4 cups coconut milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Optional garnish: coconut flakes, cinnamon sticks, whipped cream

Steps to Make It

  1. Mix all ingredients except garnish in blender.
  2. Refrigerate overnight.
  3. Serve in preferred glassware – top and garnish as desired.
    Note – if garnishing with coconut flakes: dry rim of glass. Spread honey, maple syrup or agave on rim. Press coconut flakes into syrup.

Hot Toddy(ish)

Ingredients

  • hot tea (stronger brews work better) – enough to fill glass
  • 1 tablespoon honey or preferred sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • a cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp whole cloves
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • garnish – lemon or orange slices

Steps to Make It

  1. Add honey (or other sweetener), lemon juice and spices to glass.
  2. Pour hot tea over to fill.
  3. Swirl with the cinnamon stick to mix.
  4. Garnish with lemon or orange slices

Mulled (Not) Wine

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces pomegranate juice
  • 8 ounces black cherry juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 8 ounces apple juice
  • 1 cup blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • a cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 3 black peppercorns
  • 1 orange, cut in quarters

Steps to Make It

  1. Mix all ingredients in saucepan or crockpot and cook on low until simmering.
  2. Strain before serving.

Gin and Tonic (Hold The Gin)

Ingredients

  • 4-5 cardamom pods
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • chamomile teabag (If you have a ragweed allergy chamomile can aggravate it!)
  • 1/2 bunch mint leaves
  • 1 strip or 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 1/2 bunch rosemary (fresh)
  • cold water
  • tonic water
  • ice

Steps to Make It

  1. Bruise the cardamom pods by pressing down on them with the flat side of a knife. This releases the oils and flavor.
  2. Slice the cucumber in rounds.
  3. Place cardamom, cucumber, the chamomile teabag, mint leaves, lemon zest, cloves and rosemary in a large pitcher. Pour two cups cold water into pitcher.
  4. Place pitcher in fridge to steep for 2-4 hours.
  5. To serve, strain the infused water and pour about 1/4 cup of it into each glass.
  6. Top with tonic water and ice.
  7. Garnish with mint leaves.

Winter ChaiGria

Ingredients

  • 2 oranges sliced
  • 2 grapefruit sliced
  • 4 apricots sliced
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • 8 ounces pomegranate juice
  • 8 ounces cranberry juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 chai tea bags
  • 24 oz grapefruit flavored sparkling water
  • garnish: anise stars, cinnamon sticks, fresh cranberries, pomegranate seeds

Steps to Make It

  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF.  On a baking sheet, place sliced oranges, sliced grapefruit, sliced apricots and cranberries.  Oven times will vary from 30-45 minutes. You want your cranberries to burst and caramelize.
  2. While your fruit is baking, bring your juices to a boil. Once boiling, pour juices over the chai tea bags in a heat-proof pitcher. Steep for 5 – 7 minutes.  Remove tea bags.
  3. Add in caramelized fruit. Sit in fridge overnight.  
  4. To serve, fill glasses half full with chaigria and top with sparkling water.
  5. Garnish as desired
